A Veteran-Owned Company That Works Under Houses
Detect Termite & Moisture Services has worked Hampton Roads crawl spaces since 2015, built on a simple standard: go look, tell the truth, fix it right.
Why the company exists
Hampton Roads homes fight a three-front war: termites in the soil, moisture in the crawl space, and the damaged wood the first two leave behind. The industry mostly split that war between three different companies, each blaming the other two.
We built one company to own all of it. The inspector who finds the problem, the technician who treats it, and the carpenter who repairs it all answer to the same name, which is on the side of every truck and at the bottom of every invoice.
Standing orders
Where the military part shows up
Veteran ownership shows up in the operating habits, not the marketing. Hampton Roads is home to the largest naval base in the world, our customers include a steady stream of service members and veterans, and the PCS season closings we protect are personal to us.
-
Show up when you said
A time window is a promise, not a preference. Closings and swarms do not reschedule around a route sheet.
-
Document everything
Photographs behind every claim, readings written down, active evidence separated from history on the report itself.
-
Brief in plain language
The customer gets the finding explained the way we would explain it to each other, before anyone is asked to decide anything.
-
Never report what you cannot prove
No invented damage, and no fix any of us would refuse to put a name on. An inspector who cries damage on every crawl space stops being believed.
Grade level
Everything the company is judged on happens under this line.
What ten years of this work has taught us
Since 2015 we have completed more than two thousand jobs across Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and the rest of the region. The pattern behind most of them never changes, and it runs in one direction only.
That is why our inspectors carry meters and not just flashlights, and why our reports separate what is active from what is history instead of dressing every finding in alarm.
-
First
Moisture
Wet ground, poor drainage, and still air keep framing damp long enough to matter.
-
Second
Insects
Damp wood is an invitation. Subterranean termites and decay fungi both accept it.
-
Third
Damage
By the time a floor feels soft upstairs, the first two have been working for years.

The full review recordI couldn't ask for a better company to call upon as a part of my team for my clients and for personal use. Mark Martin and team are top notch and highly recommended!
Enjoyed working with James and Mike. Knowledgeable and thorough and willing to take the time to educate me and slow down to show me the things they discovered.
